Excellence in Teaching Awards
The Midland Chamber of Commerce recognizes the link between quality educators and a superior workforce. To help Midland attract and retain the best teachers and staff possible, the Midland Chamber of Commerce honors an Outstanding Elementary Teacher, an Outstanding Secondary Teacher and an "Unsung Hero" each year. "Unsung Heros" are those staff members who contribute to the overall educational process outside of the classroom - counselors, custodial staff, administrative staff, food service workers or any other non-classroom personnel.

The 2013 nominees were honored at a press conference and reception on February 21, 2013. Click here for a complete list of winners.

 Partners In Education

An educated workforce is critical to the success of Midland businesses. The Partners In Education website is a joint initiative with the Midland Chamber of Commerce, the Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Midland Independent School District and the Midland Education Foundation. Founding organizations provide the administrative and financial support to recruit and educate new Community Partners, facilitate donations, connect Community Partners with volunteer and mentoring opportunities and assess Community Partner needs. Our valued Community Partners are the reason PIEMidland.org was created and these organizations do their best to facilitate the Partner/recipient relationship.

"The recent legislative session had a tremendous impact on the already challenging budgets of our schools. The Midland Chamber of Commerce sees the value of a quality education and its impact on our economy. That is the impetus behind this partnership. Our Chamber wants to help bridge the gap for our schools, helping them to continue providing a great education in order to sustain and grow Midland’s world class business climate!" ~ Bobby Burns, President/CEO, Midland Chamber of Commerce
