Event Description:
During October and November, the Midland College (MC) Workforce Continuing Education department will offer two courses targeted to the popular personal trainer industry. According to the latest fitness industry salary guide, certified personal trainers are earning an average of $34/hour.
On Saturdays, October 1-November 5, Personal Trainer Certification will be offered at the MC Advanced Technology Center from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. This course is taught over a 5-week period for better retention and hands-on skill competency. The national Personal Trainer Certification exam will be offered on the 6th week. The course is comprised of 15 hours of lecture, 15 hours of hands-on practical training and a 30-hour internship. Key topics include biomechanics, exercise physiology, fitness testing and equipment usage and health assessment. Certification in CPR/AED is also required to receive the certification. The class will be taught by local instructors who have been professionally trained by World Instructor Training Schools, the only major personal trainer certifying organization in the U.S. that provides comprehensive practical training and internship components. Cost of the course is $689.
