The Midland Chamber of Commerce recognizes the value of an educated workforce. The Chamber’s State of Education luncheon is designed to facilitate meaningful discourse on the topic and inform the business community about pressing issues faced by today’s educators.

This year's luncheon features: Senator Kel Seliger and Representative Tom Craddick*. The discussion will be moderated by Rick Davis, MISD School Board President.

Seliger_headshotSenator Seliger (R) has represented District 31 since 2004. His district covers 37 counties including Midland, Odessa, and Big Spring. Since his election to the Texas Senate, Senator Seliger has served on numerous committees that include transportation funding, open government, natural resources, finance, education-- just to name a few. He currently chairs the Higher Education committee, the Select Redistricting committee, and co-chairs the Committee on Oversight of Higher Education Governance, Excellence, & Transparency. During the regular session of the 83rd Legislature, Senator Seliger authored several bills relating to public and higher education. For more information about Senator Seliger, please see here.

STC crop_1State Representative Tom Craddick (R) has served District 82 since 1968. Of his 46 years representing Midland, Crane, Upton, Martin, and Dawson counties, 6 of those years were spent as Speaker. He was the  Representative Craddick recently authored bills relating to texting and driving and promoting space flight development.
