United Blood Services Bloodgusher Run/Walk/Half Marathon

(Midland, TX)  Plans are well underway for the 11th Annual United Blood Services Bloodgushers Half Marathon/10K/5K/1K Run and Walk scheduled for 8:30am on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Citibank Ballpark/ Midland Rockhounds Stadium, 5514 Champions Drive.  Race day registration begins at 7:30am.

The event benefits the local non-profit blood center, United Blood Services. Proceeds from the event will be used to help United Blood Services continue to provide service to this area.  There will be a UBS Bloodmobile on site to accept blood donations to help improve the blood supply in the Permian Basin.

The event is geared towards people of all capabilities.  Walkers are welcomed and encouraged to participate.  The event allows strollers and even dogs (owners must pick up after their pet).  Families are welcomed.  The course is flat and winds around the stadium and into the new Betenbough Homes, Legends neighborhood.  The longer distances enter into the beautiful Grasslands neighborhood.

A donation of $20.00 (pre-registered) or $30.00 (race day for all 5k/10k registrants) will get a runner entered into the 5K or 10K and includes a commemorative T-shirt.  The fee for the half marathon is $40 - All half marathoners that cross the finish line will receive a special blood drop shaped finisher’s medal.  Kid’s race runners will be charged a $10.00 (pre-registered) entry fee which includes a T-shirt or they may run for free (no T-shirt).  Anyone who is at least 16 years of age may donate blood between now and mid- March and the entry fee will be waived for the 5K/10K/1K run or walk only. Half marathoners must pay the registration fee and there is no race day registration for the half marathon. A donation voucher must be submitted with the registration form. Plaques or medals will be awarded to finishers in various age groups.
