Originally named Boys' Toys & Barbecue, our annual event began in 2005 when former Board Member Joyce Sledge recognized that there was a segment of the Midland community with a passion for collector cars, and those people might just pay for an event that showcased those spectacular vehicles. Joyce and her husband Gene generously offered their business location as the site of the first event - a car show and barbecue. A local band was engaged to play music, and MARC volunteers put together a silent auction.
This simple idea has since grown into what is now known as Big Boys' Toys, an annual extravaganza still boasting the best car show in Midland, live and silent auctions, and a country music concert - all for the benefit of MARC's amazing clients.
While the event has evolved over the years, the purpose has always stayed the same - engage the community with a night of fun highlighting the amazing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that MARC serves in Midland, Texas, helping empower each of them to live independent, fulfilling lives in the community.
We hope you'll join us this year!
