MIDLAND, TEXAS – On Thursday, October 20, the Midland College main campus, 3600 N. Garfield, will be the site of two political forums.
At 6:00 p.m., the Midland College Student Government Association will host leaders from the Midland County Republican and Democratic parties as they expound upon Donald Trump’s and Hillary Clinton’s positions on five topics that are of most interest to MC students. This event will take place in the Allison Fine Arts Building Wagner & Brown Auditorium.
Then at 7:00 p.m., the League of Women Voters® (LWV) of the Midland Area will host a forum among Midland ISD School Board candidates in the Scharbauer Student Center Carrasco Room.
“MC students and the entire community are invited to both of these forums,” said Taneekwa Hurdle, MC Student Activities coordinator. “The U.S. Presidential forum will focus on national issues that are of interest to college students, such as rising tuition, immigration and the environment. The school board forum will concentrate on more local topics as the candidates discuss important challenges and opportunities that affect education in our community.”
Both events are free, and no reservations are required. For more information, contact Rebecca Bell in the Midland College Community Relations Office at (432) 685-4556, rbell@midland.edu
