Event Description:
Midland County Public Libraries (MCPL) invites Midlanders on a trip down America’s most famous highway. Visitors at the Downtown Library will experience Route 66 in its heyday through photographs, large-scale replicas and panels, and even an original 1965 Ford Mustang. The traveling exhibit America’s Road: The Journey of Route 66 opens Friday, September 18 and remains on view through January 4, 2021 at the Downtown Library.
Visitors may view the exhibit from 10 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am to 2 pm Saturdays. The exhibit will be cleaned multiple times each day and visitors must wear masks or face-coverings.
America’s Road: The Journey of Route 66 offers a multi-media educational foray into highway culture as it explores the 2,448 stretch of asphalt that has captured the American imagination for generations. Route 66 crosses through eight states from the Midwest to the Pacific coast and still draws thousands of travelers each year.
The exhibit is made possible by Midland County Public Library Foundation, Carnegie Circle, and Midland County. America’s Road: The Journey of Route 66 is organized by NRG! Exhibits of Kirkland, Washington.
