    Job Summary

    This position is responsible for the management of Midland College’s Information Technology Services. This includes internet connectivity, network management, network and data security, PC and workstation support, video conferencing services, door security, data center operations and web services.

    Required Qualifications

    Baccalaureate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business Administration

    Minimum of five years of relevant experience in information technology management or infrastructure development

    Knowledge of equipment used to operate and maintain data/communication networks, personal productivity equipment, and data servers and storage

    Ability to effectively manage time and priorities in order to meet established deadlines

    Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers and other external contacts

    Detail oriented and highly organized

    Ability to manage several departments

    Data/communication networking technology knowledge

    Data/communication security technologies knowledge

    Relational database methodologies and file structures knowledge

    Familiar with policy formation and implementation

    Strong communication, leadership, and presentation skills

    Ability to work in a team environment with multiple, sometimes changing priorities

    Must possess a valid Texas Driver License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy

    Preferred Qualifications

    Master’s degree

    Community college experience

    Essential Functions

    Provide the vision for Midland College’s information technology needs, and how Midland College can best respond to these needs

    Be informed of current and innovative technology; partner with industry to develop strategic methods for Midland College to provide students with the skills necessary for this technology

    Offer instruction on the use of information technology equipment and software to Midland College faculty and staff

    Facilitate the configuration, implementation and maintenance of Midland College computer systems

    Provide specifications for grant proposals to help procure funds for the acquisition of information technology equipment, software and connectivity

    Consult with faculty, staff, and administrators to determine their technology and facility needs

    Supervise the installation of all Midland College computers, software, and networks

    Be informed of the Independent School District’s instructional programs and determine the effect of those programs on Midland College’s programs

    Develop and maintain strategic plans for the Information Technology Services Department

    Manage Information Technology Services staff

    Constantly analyze information technology related problems and provide procedural/technical solutions

    Perform other duties as assigned

    Physical Demands

    Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time

    Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds

    Ability to work extended hours as needed

    Ability to travel, including travel for training, meetings, and events (both in and out of town)

    Use of manual dexterity

    Heavy computer usage

    College setting

    Generally in an office setting with duties indoors and some outdoors

    Attendance at Midland College or community events may be required
