    Job Summary

    The lecture instructor will teach a combination of biology (Mostly Human Anatomy & Physiology) lecture and lab classes each week along with, developing teaching and testing materials for classes and work with existing and develop new community service projects. Mentoring undergraduate students in research projects is encouraged.

    Required Qualifications

    Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Biology or Zoology

    General classroom instruction and experience working with lab equipment

    Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    Doctorate in Biology or Zoology

    College teaching experience

    Essential Functions

    Teach the equivalent of a minimum of five lecture classes each Fall and Spring semester; may also be assigned to teach lab sections

    Fulfill faculty roles and responsibilities as outlined in Midland College Policy 02:01:01

    Assist Program Chair schedule and staff all biology lecture and lab classes

    Assist Program Chair and Division Dean prepare a recommended budget for the department, recommend purchases of equipment and supplies, maintain and control use of equipment and supplies

    Recommend textbooks and instructional materials to be used in the instructional program

    Develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum; lecture and lab curriculum are to supplement each other

    Assist with educational counseling and program advising of students

    Assist with writing and development of proposals seeking funds or property for the Biology Department as requested

    Coordinate with appropriate Midland College personnel to recruit new biology students as requested and work to increase enrollment in the Biology Department

    Stay current with trends and innovations in the field

    Maintain professional status through classroom participation, organizational memberships, advanced study, publication and/or community related service

    Help to orient new full time and part time faculty

    Serve as a resource to the College, professional, and educational communities

    Maintain academic records as required by the college, accreditation agencies, and law

    Successfully teach academic courses in the Biology Department as evidenced by student evaluations and grade distributions

    Assist with the development of goals and objectives for the department

    Other duties as assigned

    Ability to lift or move lab equipment weighing up to 25 pounds

    Use of manual dexterity

    Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time

    Min Salary 47,671 per year
    Max Salary 59,214 per year
    Pay Statement Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
