    Job Title FACULTY-PARALEGAL/LEGAL ASSISTANT

    Job Summary

    Instruct five courses per long terms as requested and teach in mini/summer/flex terms as needed. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the employee will advise and mentor students.

    Required Qualifications

    In accordance with SACSCOC accreditation requirements, Associate’s degree in Paralegal or Legal Assistant

    3+ years experience in Paralegal or Legal Assistant Profession (other relevant professional experiences may be considered)

    Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; excellent interpersonal skills

    Excellent organizational skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    Baccalaureate or graduate degree in related field desired

    JD is preferred

    18+ graduate hours in an additional teaching field desired; Criminal Justice/Criminology, Psychology, or Sociology preferred

    Community college teaching experience

    College/dual credit teaching experience

    Knowledge of Canvas and other instructional technology

    Essential Functions

    Instruct students in assigned face-to-face and on-line courses in accordance with the course syllabus and college policy

    Teach select dual credit courses

    Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community

    Provide access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication, syllabus, and other appropriate methods

    Participate in student recruitment and advising

    Ensure meaningful business and industry participation in curriculum development and maintenance by engaging legal professionals through the Paralegal Advisory Committee

    Actively participate in the development, administration, and reporting of program assessment

    Submit required college reports, forms, and timely grading

    Stay current with trends and innovations in the field

    Continually improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing methodologies, techniques and delivery methods

    Plan and organize lectures, utilize research and reference materials

    Develop syllabi and other learning aids

    Serve on departmental, division and college-wide committees, as requested the Program Chair and/or Dean of Social/Behavioral Sciences and Business Division

    Participate in graduation and other required official College functions

    Orient and mentor new full time and part time faculty

    Successfully complete Quality Matters certification during first year of employment

    Other duties as assigned

    Min Salary 46,727 per year
    Max Salary 58,552 per year
    Pay Statement Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
