    Job Summary

    Health Science Continuing Education Coordinator will develop and deliver health science continuing education and technical courses to students at the WRTTC and develop offerings to the Midland College service area (Pecos, Crockett, and Reagan counties). HSCE Coordinator will also promote WRTTC at promotional events to highlight WRTTC course offerings.

    Required Qualifications

    Licensed Vocational Nurse-Texas

    Minimum of one year long-term care experience

    Knowledge of Health Care related equipment and instruments

    Detail oriented and highly self-motivated

    Knowledge of DADS and NACES Certification requirements

    Current CPR Instructor Certification preferred, or must obtain within first 90 days of employment

    Current First Aid Instructor Certification preferred, or must obtain within first 90 days of employment

    Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, both orally and in writing

    Interest in working in a college setting

    Ability to work effectively as a member of the instructional team

    Must possess a valid Texas class “C” driver license and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance

    Preferred Qualifications

    Licensed Registered Nurse-Texas, Associate or Bachelor degree in health science related field

    Experience teaching adolescent or adult students

    Experience teaching health science material

    Essential Functions

    Coordinate with MC Health Science CE Director and WRTTC Director on planning, organization and implementing CE programs, courses, workshops, and special events for Pecos County and MC service area

    Create an advisory committee to assist with planning and development of relevant HSCE training initiatives for Pecos County and MC service area

    Provide instructional support, to include teaching classes for FSHS, and adult Certified Nurse Aid courses

    Instruct health science students in theory and skill

    Utilize a variety of effective and professional teaching techniques and methods to assist students in attaining the performance objectives of the courses

    Maintain accreditation from regulatory agencies as appropriate

    Oversee clinical experience of students in various community clinical sites and in a simulation lab

    Prepare report of students’ success according to Midland College and Fort Stockton ISD guidelines

    Maintain budgetary compliance

    Attend meetings as required

    Observe the administrative policies and mission of Midland College

    Work with Texas Workforce Network on being an approved “In-service Education” site

    Attain status as training partner with recognized agencies that provide certifications in the health care industry

    Provide onsite CE first aid, CPR, and AED trainings to employers

    Other duties as assigned

    Physical Demands

    Must be able to move and lift equipment associated with instruction of health science continuing education courses offered

    Must be able to sit or stand for a long period of time

    Use of manual dexterity

    Must have the ability to communicate with students

    Office work and instructional classroom, including clinical sites

    Frequent travel to remote teaching sites if course offerings are developed for delivery other than at WRTTC facility

    Min Salary 37,000 per year
    Max Salary 41,500 per year
    Pay Statement Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
