    Job Summary

    Assist the fast pitch softball coach with all duties and responsibilities related to the fast pitch softball program. Assist in game operations as designated by the athletic director.

    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree

    Must possess a valid Texas Driver License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy

    Minimum of one year collegiate coaching

    Knowledge of equipment used in the training, coaching, and development of softball athletes

    Knowledge of softball training techniques and practice skills development

    Ability to work within supervised guidelines and willingness and ability to execute work-related tasks without constant oversight

    Ability to work with people within the department, across the campus and within the community

    Ability to manage student-athletes from various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds

    Knowledge of NJCAA, NCAA, and NAIA rules and regulations

    Strong verbal, written, and leadership skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    Master’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology or Exercise Sports Science

    Recruiting experience at the college and/or professional level(s)

    Competent use of PC, video editing experience, DVD dubbing, fax machine, copier, Microsoft Suite, softball statistics programs

    Playing experience at the collegiate or professional level

    One year of pitching at collegiate level

    Essential Functions

    Assist in the recruitment of student-athletes as well as the scouting of rival teams as requested

    Oversee game day preparations/game day field preparation

    Assist in maintaining playing field

    Supervision of student-athletes in college housing (residence halls)

    Monitor classroom attendance of student-athletes, evaluate student-athlete performance

    Monitor student-athlete academic progress including study hall settings

    Assist with practice preparation, conducting practice and field maintenance

    Conditioning of student-athletes (in season and out of season) and in games

    Update NJCAA statistical sites as required by the conference and region

    Drive team transport vehicles as needed

    Perform athletic department related duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or the Director of Athletics

    Other duties as assigned

    Physical Demands

    Must be able to lift or move up to 80 pounds

    Use of manual dexterity

    Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time

    Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours

    Work mostly performed outdoors (75%), indoors (25%)

    Work both on and off campus

    Travel for games, tournaments, training, meetings and events both in and out of town

    Min Salary 30,450 per year
    Max Salary 30,450 per year
