Let freedom ring by celebrating Independence Day in American Spirit in downtown Midland at the 2026 Star-Spangled Salute!

This family-friendly event begins with the 63rd Annual Children's Sidewalk Parade and closes with fireworks sparkling in the West Texas night sky.

Delicious food and beverages from local vendors and a family fun zone will make your Independence Day exciting and memorable.

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy live music from local bands during the evening concert.

Know Before You Go

Centennial Park will be closed to the public from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM for event setup and safety preparations. The park will reopen to the public at 5:00 PM for Star-Spangled Salute festivities.

A clear bag policy will be enforced for all attendees. Exceptions may be made for diaper bags and medically necessary items, which are subject to inspection. Security screenings will be in place at all entry points.

Please note the following prohibited items are not allowed inside the event area:

  • Weapons of any kind
  • Coolers
  • Pets
  • Bicycles
  • Scooters
  • Skateboards
  • Smoking and vaping devices
  • Glass containers
  • Balloons

Get Involved

We anticipate an attendance of about 15,000 at this year’s Independence Day festivities. An event of this size can only be successful with the help of many volunteers.

We are seeking your help to make this event a success! Volunteers are needed at various times; most help will be required from 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on July 4.

Volunteers have the opportunity to experience the following return on their investment by volunteering:

  • Exposure and recognition for your business (volunteers are encouraged to wear company ball-caps).
  • A unique opportunity to become connected with the community.
  • Strengthen employee relationships by working side-by-side.
  • Feel the patriotism and participate in the largest single-day event held in Midland, Texas.

Categories

Birth - 3 years, 4-6 years, 7-9 years, 10-12 years, and Power Wheels (groups with Power Wheel participants must all walk/ride in the final parade group).

New this year, order will be determined by last name so families can walk and ride together. Power wheels will remain in the final parade group.

Decorations

Each child receives a ribbon and flag to wave in the parade.

Sidewalk vehicles are encouraged (not required) to be decorated in red, white, and blue to salute our Military and First Responders, while celebrating America’s Birthday!

Vehicles

Sidewalk vehicles only (such as wagons, tricycles, bicycles, strollers, and Power Wheels).

No motor vehicles permitted on the parade route.

Water

It can get warm outside! Be sure to bring a water bottle (no glass bottles or drink coolers permitted).

Fun Zone

Visit the food court for delicious treats, including funnel cakes, popcorn, BBQ, snow cones, and more!

Most vendors will accept credit cards. Want to be fully prepared? Bring cash to ensure you can purchase from all vendors.

*To secure your vendor spot, your contract must be filled out with current and correct contact information. Contracts submitted without contact information will delay your registration process. The deadline to sign up is Friday, June 5 at 12 p.m. CST.

Beer Garden

For our patrons aged 21 and over, we invite you to enjoy our Beer Garden located off of Texas Avenue and Colorado in the Food Court.

General Information:

  • All patrons must show ID and receive a wristband.
  • Ticket Tents will be located near the food court and adjacent to the Beer Garden
  • Cash and credit cards accepted (no checks)
  • No refunds will be given for tickets purchased

Fireworks Show

The Salute will close with a fireworks show sparkling in the West Texas night sky. The 2026 show will be one to remember, with fireworks launched from the roof of the Bush Convention Center! The show will last approximately 10 minutes.

With thousands expected to attend, arrive early to find a great watch spot—and don't forget your lawn chairs!

The fireworks will be launched from the roof of the Bush Convention Center. Seats within the park will have an excellent view of the display. NO UNAUTHORIZED PERSONNEL WILL BE PERMITTED WITHIN THE FIRING SITE PERIMETER. NO PARKING ALONG THE PERIMETER.

When you enter the Star-Spangled Salute event, you enter an area where photography, audio, and video recording may occur. By entering the event premises, you consent to photography, audio recording, video recording and its/their release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for news, webcasts, promotional purposes, telecasts, advertising, inclusion on websites, social media, or any other purpose by the Midland Chamber of Commerce (including its affiliates and representatives), The City of Midland, Midland County and VisitMidland (hereinafter referred to collectively as Event Producers).

Images, photos, and/or videos may be used to promote similar events in the future and highlight the event.
