Our Focus: Continuing our Journey

We make being a woman look easy, but we know the journey we have taken to be where we are now.

There is power in being confident in where we are now, to transform into who we are meant to be starts with deep connection built through face-to-face interactions and personal relationships with other women on similar journeys.

A woman is her strongest when she protects her mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. This year, we will focus on the importance of appreciating the journey, no matter how bumpy the road.

Vicki Lawrence

Emmy Award-Winning Actress, Comedian & Entertainer

Multi-talented Vicki Lawrence, is an actress, comedian, and singer known for the many characters she originated on CBS's The Carol Burnett Show, where she appeared from 1967 to 1978, for the entire series run. One such character, Thelma Harper/Mama, was the central character of ever popular television situation comedy series Mama's Family. The show still can be seen daily in syndication throughout most of the country and is available as a Time-Life DVD collection.

Lawrence spends much of her time on the road with her stage production Vicki Lawrence and Mama: A Two Woman Show. She also enjoys speaking to women’s organizations and other great causes, where she shares her life story of fame, activism, and her continuing success. All the while she approaches everything with her characteristic sense of humor, reminding us all that “Life is much too serious to be taken seriously!” Lawrence has multiple Emmy Award nominations, winning one in 1976. She is a multiple Golden Globe nominee, all for The Carol Burnett Show. In 1973, Lawrence recorded the hit song "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia." It reached Number Oner on both the United States and Canada top charts.

In the past, Lawrence hosted a popular game show, Win, Lose or Draw, her own daytime talk show, Vicki!, and appeared in many theatre productions. She was the only talk show host since Oprah to be nominated for a Daytime Emmy in her freshman year.Through the years Lawrence has made appearances on other television programs, such as Laverne & Shirley, Major Dad, Roseanne, Hannah Montana, and Yes, Dear. Lawrence has also appeared with Burnett, Korman, and Tim Conway in the Burnett show retrospectives. Lawrence most recently co-starred in the popular FOX-TV 2018 comedy series The Cool Kids. Lawrence’s co-stars in The Cool Kids were David Alan Grier, Martin Mull and Leslie Jordan.

Vicki is not only a successful actress, she also is involved in many causes close to her. She was the honorary head of the D.A.R.E program, raised money to protect widows and families of slain police officers in Long Beach, CA, supports the Humane Society and works with the American Heart Association as well as WALK FOR THE CURE. Her efforts to protect women’s rights were recognized in 1988 when Vicki was the first woman to be honored as “Person of the Year” by the Coalition of Labor Union Women.

Lawrence was diagnosed with chronic idiopathic urticaria (CIU) around 2011. She teamed with the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and has become the spokesperson for the campaign CIU & You. She appeared on The Doctors in 2015 to relay her story and talk about CIU and promote the CIU & You campaign.

Vicki was born in Inglewood, California, where she excelled in dancing and singing, was a cheerleader and was voted "Most Likely to Succeed" by her graduating class. From 1965 to 1967 Vicki sang with the Young Americans musical group and, also, appeared in the feature film The Young Americans which won an Academy Award for Best Documentary. In 1974 Vicki married the head of CBS make-up, Al Schultz, who is both her best friend and professional partner. Al and Vicki have two grown children, Courtney and Garrett. In her spare time Vicki enjoys cooking.

As an Associated Press Award winning journalist for CBS7 News, Krista woke West Texans up each weekday morning for ten years with the latest news and weather. In 2010, Krista was recognized for fair and balanced reporting by the Midland Independent School District and honored by the state of Texas as a member of the Media Honor Roll. She serves the community as an emcee for many non-profit groups and is a public speaker who loves to help others achieve their dreams. Krista’s strengths in business are utilizing her 25 years experience in broadcasting by mentoring and helping others promote their companies.

Faith and Family are at the heart of Krista’s life, they are her “WHY”! They have four kids, Austin a graduate of Rice University, Aspen a Senior at Lubbock Christian University, Alexandra a Sophomore at Lubbock Christian University...both girls play on the golf team... and Alex a Freshman at Trinity School. Krista’s hobbies include watching her kids play golf, reading, yoga and running. Her favorite quote is Dream Big, Believe in Yourself and Never Give Up. If you do these three things, anything is possible. Tonya is a grant writer, and certified speaker, trainer, and coach with the John Maxwell Team. She and her husband founded Lifehouse Fellowship Church in 2009 and lead as Senior Pastors.

Tonya believes that every person has the potential for greatness, and she loves helping people unlock potential and discover their purpose. Tonya’s passion is helping individuals and teams find unity and harmony, while expanding their capacity for growth.

For Tonya, family is everything! She has been married to Jeremy for over 27 years and together they are parents of three adult children and grandparents to two amazing grandsons.

In 2012 Brandy Bell formally founded Southern Bell and Company, (So. Bell & Co.), a multimedia production company. The Mission: “To encourage, empower, and equip one another to become all we are created to be; through in-person events, media platforms, print publications, and thoughtfully designed products. Our goal is to inspire each other to love our people well, create authentic community, and make the ordinary – absolutely lovely.”

When asked why she felt the need to create a TV show, Brandy has this to say: “My heart for the show is the same as everything else we do at So. Bell & Co. We want to encourage, empower, and equip our viewers with a uniquely different show that will inspire them to have an impact in their own communities.

I think West Texas has a lot we can model for others, with our zeal for neighboring, natural propensity for hard work, and an overcoming spirit. We also want the world to see that the real value of our region lies above ground. When you ask someone why they love West Texas, they immediately say it’s because of the people. We agree. And we want to showcase this. On a personal note, having lived all over the country, I am convinced that there is something truly special about our West Texas community. The depth of character, desire to help others, and strong sense of pride is unparalleled. And our world needs more of this.” Along with speaking, writing, and teaching, Brandy enjoys any opportunity to encourage women. She and her husband, Kyle, live with a multiplicity of codependent animals on their “Little Teeny Farm” in Midland, Texas.

Patsy Casas, Odessa, TX television news Anchor/Reporter, was born on August 22, 1972 in Acuña Coahuila, and moved to Del Rio, TX at the age of 5. Her parents then decided to move to Odessa, Texas a short time later, raised and have lived in Odessa ever since.

Patsy attended school in Odessa and graduated from Odessa High School. Attended Odessa College, graduated from OC. Started radio at the young age of 15. At age 26 returned to radio and did radio for 27 years in total on KTXC La Ley 104.7 and before that Tejano 96.1. Television a total of 23 years, of those 23, 21 on Telemundo20. Did weather on Telemundo20 for over 10 years, been on air reporter and Anchor for the 5pm on Telemundo20.

I love telling peoples stories. Meeting new faces and bringing the important information to our community, keeping them informed and updated. Gray Television started a News App last year and I host "Oeste de Texas Hoy con Patsy Casas" from 11am to 2pm live every day. Local news, entertainment, interviews, national news, world news. I love and enjoy doing the app live every day. I'm able to talk to our community when they call in and having that connection with our community is what keeps me going.

I feel blessed to have the best job, or as I'd say, the best of both worlds. Tv, news app and communication with the community. I thank God everyday for my husband of 21 years. Both daughters, Jazmin, and Jessica and our two beautiful and healthy grandkids, Zachary and Aayvah. I feel very blessed.

La’Toya Mayberry was born in Midland, TX to Bruce and Sonya Nix. She then spent 6 years in her dad’s hometown in Mississippi, where she completed Elementary School. Upon returning back to Midland she met her husband in high school and the two married in June of 2006. Together her husband and her have two beautiful children Aniyah and Erinn who are on track to be great basketball players for the Legacy Varsity team.

Latoya also Pastors alongside her husband, Community Worship Center. Their ministry has been deeply involved in impacting the community for the past ten years. Outside of those hats Latoya owns and operates two childcare centers, Toya’s Precious Jewels Academy and Toya’s Precious Jewels Infant Center. Together they service 90 families and employ 21 Midlanders.

. Latoya also is actively involved in our community as she serves as a Commissioner for our local Housing Authority and is in her 2nd term as a member of the Midland Memorial Hospital Forum. She attended Midland College pursuing a Psychology degrand and received her Associates in May 2023. Her plans are to continue to build up her businesses to help families have quality childcare and continue to help men and women have a career as an early childcare professional. Her greatest life goal is to help woman reach their full potential and realize all the greatness they poses.

Holly typically works directly with small business owners who have little to no staff. For her, this is the best part; she loves helping them be successful.

Holly has a bachelor’s degree in accounting as well as a bachelor’s degree in management from McNeese State University and is licensed in both Louisiana and Texas. She is also an Intuit Certified Advanced ProAdvisor in QuickBooks Online.

Holly loves helping small businesses become as proficient as possible in QuickBooks Online. She considers one of her strengths being able to solve QuickBooks problems and teaching others how to understand their books.
