Name: National Night Out begins with kick-off party
Date: October 4, 2016
Time: 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM CDT
Event Description:

National Night Out will kick off with a party beginning at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at Stonegate Fellowship Church located at 6000 W. Wadley Ave.

Mayor Jerry Morales and MPD Chief Price Robinson will speak during the kick-off event and police and fire officials will be present to answer questions. Local food truck vendors will be on site from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

The Midland Police Department asks residents to participate in National Night Out every year by locking their doors, turning on outside lights and spending the evening outside with neighbors and public safety employees. More than 60 neighborhoods throughout Midland have signed up this year to host a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, visits from the police and firefighters, and more.

National Night Out is a nationwide crime prevention event designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and are fighting back against crime. Midland police officers will visit each block party to meet with residents and discuss ways to keep their community safe.

The deadline for citizens to register a block party for National Night Out is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28. For more information, please call MPD’s Community Relations division at 432-685-7582.
