Midland Mobilized Prayer Vigil

  • Share:
Name: Midland Mobilized Prayer Vigil
Date: May 27, 2020
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM CDT
Event Description:

We have been blessed in Midland with leadership that values our community not only for what we produce underground but also for the beauty of what we produce aboveground. Our leadership has been appointed by the Lord and are servants for the good of the people of Midland (Romans 13), and they are in fact in the positions they are in for such a time as this (Esther 4:14).

COVID-19, along with the current state of oil prices has created a perfect storm in the Permian Basin and our city. It is hard to imagine being in leadership during such perilous times – to lead in such a climate of fear, panic and all-around unrest seems like a daunting task requiring unlimited time, energy, and thought. As our leaders find themselves in a state of fatigue, it is our job to step in and hold them up when they are tired, much like Aaron held up the arms of Moses.

Through prayer and encouragement, it is my hope that our city leaders will find a renewed sense of strength and peace to continue the path that lays before them.

Given that we are unable to meet in large groups, a typical prayer vigil is not possible. In place of congregating, participants will stay in the comfort of their own vehicle and travel the campus circle while praying for our leaders and our city.

Cars will meet in the south side of the Chap center parking lot, be led in an invocation by Mike Goeke and a song of worship by Craig King through Facebook Live, then be directed to circle the campus where signs will be placed with leaders’ names and titles around the campus circle. There will be secondary signs to the side with specific prayer requests from each leader –this way, we can come alongside them and unite in their prayers for the city.

Midland College has asked us to remain in our cars AT ALL TIMES. Once it appears most cars have gathered, the Facebook live broadcast will begin, which you can watch from your phone, in your car. Final instructions will then be given on how to exit the parking lot, travel the circle, and exit the campus circle before the mobile portion begins.
